Spring Bocce Picnic & Tournament Brings Famiglia Together

Buona Fortuna Lodge #2835 welcomed members, family, and friends to H.K. Matthews Park for a beautiful day of bocce, food, and fellowship at our annual Spring Bocce Picnic & Tournament.

Although we set up in drenching rain keeping hope alive in the forecast, the skies cleared up and dried up all the rain for a friendly competition as players of all skill levels stepped up to participate in this cherished Italian tradition. Whether competing for the top spot or simply enjoying the camaraderie, the spirit of the day was unmistakable—laughter, connection, and community were everywhere.

This year’s tournament brought exciting matchups and great sportsmanship throughout the day. Congratulations to our winners:

1st Place: Andy Fricano and James Fricano (a special father-son team, playing in honor of James' Nonno, Giacomo Fricano)
2nd Place: George Garner and Alex Chesley
3rd Place: Dan Kaestle and Rocco Nozzolini
4th Place: David and Rosie Gasowski

Bravissimi to all who played!
 

We also had a fun and successful 50/50 raffle, with congratulations to Rosie, who took home $164.00!

Of course, no Buona Fortuna gathering would be complete without an incredible meal. A special thank you to our Ospiti, Ken and Phyllis Baker, who provided an outstanding menu highlighted by their now famous Italian Beef, along with a full picnic spread that was enjoyed by all.

We are also grateful to the many members who contributed delicious side dishes and desserts, truly making this a traditional Italian-style feast. Events like this are made possible through the dedication of our volunteers. From setup to breakdown, and everything in between, your time and effort are what bring these gatherings to life.

A heartfelt thank you to our Bocce Chairs, Andy Fricano and Mark DeNunzio, for fostering the traditions that keep our lodge strong. Days like this remind us that Buona Fortuna is more than an organization—it is a famiglia.
