Honorable Charles A. Stampelos

Description:   Charles A. Stampelos received a BA degree from the University of Florida in 1972, a MA degree from the University of Miami in 1973, and a JD degree in 1976 from the College of William and Mary and admitted to practice law in Florida in 1977, Virginia in 1977, and the District of Columbia in 1978.
He worked for over five years in the Florida Attorney General's office from 1977 through 1982 (Sept. 1977-Aug. 1980-criminal appeals; Aug. 1980-July 1982-cabinet affairs; July 1982-Nov. 1982-Bureau Chief-Miami); over 17 years in private practice with the McFarlain law firm in Tallahassee, Florida. While in private practice he received an AV Martindale-Hubbell rating. He has served on Florida Bar committees (Appellate Rules, e.g.,) and the State of Florida Commission on Ethics (1996-2000 (Chair 1998-1999)) and currently serves on the Federal Court Practice Committee. He served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings beginning in September 2000, hearing mainly environmental and land use cases for the first five years and Certificate of Need cases thereafter. He served as the Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge from February 2010 until his retirement from State service in April 2012. Since August 3, 2012, he has served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Florida, Tallahassee Division
